These Legislative Study Committees are very important as decisions made in committee influence bills for the coming session in January 2021.


Legislative News for Week of February 9, 2020

https://iga.in.gov   They have reached the half way mark in the session.  All bills that have passed one Chamber are listed in blue print.  These bills have a sponsor and have been sent to the opposite Chamber for consideration. There are several Committee Meetings set for next week.  Senate Bill 73 did not receive a Hearing so is dead for this year!!!! 

Indiana General Assembly Update for January 25 2020

HB 1119 http://iga.in.gov/legislative/2020/bills/house/1119  Regulation of pesticide use and application.  Bill passed in the House and has been referred to the Senate.  Senator Leising is the Sponsor.
HB 1257 http://iga.in.gov/legislative/2020/bills/house/1257  Notice of Environmental Contamination, has not been heard in Committee
HB 1309 http://iga.in.gov/legislative/2020/bills/house/1309 Amends the law concerning the property tax exemption for industrial waste control facilities, passed in the House and has been referred to the Senate.  Senator Messmer is the Sponsor

https://iga.in.gov  there are no committee meeting scheduled for the coming week.  They are working to have all the bills that have been heard in committee to second and third readings.
Brief rundown - House Bill 1119 passed and referred to Senate  House Bill 1309 passed and referred to Senate.
House Bill 1257 was not heard in Committee.  House Bill 1350 was not heard in Committee.
Senate Bill 73 was not heard in Committee.    Senate Bill 438 passed second reading with an amendment.  Engrossed

House Committee on Environmental Affairs Meeting - January 22, 2020

Meeting is at 1:30 pm, in room 156-A of the Statehouse. 

Bills scheduled to be heard include HB 1337 - Notification of water utilities and water treatment facilities.  This bill would provide that  the environmental rules board shall amend provisions within the administrative rules governing spills to provide for notification to a water utility and water treatment facility by a responsible party in the case of a spill or permit exceedance that may cause a threat to human health or the environment or otherwise impact the operation of a water utility or water treatment facility.
